OMG Certified Expert in BPM Fundamental Examination Now Available
Program measures expertise in BPM Standards and Industry Best Practices

Needham, MA, USA - October 27, 2008 - The Object Management Group™ (OMG™) today announced that the first exam in the new five-exam certification program "OMG Certified Expert in BPM" (OCEB™) is now available for candidates at Pearson VUE testing centers around the world. The new exam series is focused on the business analysts, architects and software designers using Business Process Management (BPM) standards in their organization. For more information on OCEB, including testing facilities, visit http://www.omg.org/oceb-fe-pr.

OMG, in partnership with the UML Technology Institute (UTI), developed the new certification exam series to support business analysts, architects and designers building and using Business Process Modeling and Business Process Management techniques to define, improve and automate business processes. Subject matter experts from more than 25 companies (listed at http://www.omg.org/oceb/oceb-authors.htm) developed the exams' coverage and questions, while extensive beta-testing and psychometric analysis validated their final forms. The exams are available worldwide in English; in the Asia-Pacific region they will also be made available in Japanese in the near future.

"BPM standards help business analysts, architects and software designers to recognize, precisely capture, catalog, store, reuse and optimize an organization's business processes, so BPM expertise is more important today than ever," said Richard Mark Soley, Ph.D., chairman and CEO of OMG. "The OCEB Certification Program fills a vital need for measuring the BPM knowledge set and skills that have become increasingly crucial in today's business environment due to the rise of Service Oriented Architecture."

About the OCEB Exam Series
The OCEB Certification program helps to advance the BPM profession by providing an accepted metric of competency in necessary knowledge and skills. OCEB certification helps employers evaluate potential new hires, analyze job performance, evaluate employees and motivate employees to enhance their skills and knowledge. OCEB certificate holders benefit too by gaining recognition of their competency, and proving that they are committed to their profession.

The OCEB examinations begin with the Fundamental exam, taken by all candidates. There will then be two tracks for more advanced candidates - a Business Track and a Technical Track - with Intermediate and Advanced levels for each track, for a total of five exams. These advanced exams are currently in the beta-testing stage.

This certification program is the third exam series OMG and UTI have produced jointly. The first two certification programs, the "OMG Certified UML® Professional" (OCUP™) and the "OMG Certified Real-time and Embedded Specialist" (OCRES™) are also available now. For more information about the OCUP and OCRES exams, visit http://www.omg.org. All exams are available in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India through the broad-based Pearson VUE® Authorized Test Center network. UTI administers all the exams in Japan and Asia.
